All iPhone 15 Devices might get The Dynamic Island

But a ProMotion or always-on display might not be included in the base model.

Even though the iPhone 14 has only been available for a short while, speculation about Apple's upcoming iPhone continues unabated. Ross Young, a supply chain analyst, predicts that Apple will add Dynamic Island, the notch replacementthat is now only available on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, on all iPhone 15 models, not just the Pro variants (via MacRumors).

If accurate, this would make the Dynamic Island the default on all new iPhones and enable it to completely replace the notch that Apple first debuted with the iPhone X in 2017. (at least until Apple comes up with another design). Young also claims that the "supply chain can't support" a 120Hz LTPO panel for the base iPhone 15, which would enable the iPhone 14 Pro's always-on display and responsive ProMotion feedback.

The iPhone 14 Pro's camera array is housed in the black, pill-shaped Dynamic Island cutout at the top of the handset. Through the use of animations that make the Dynamic Island appear larger when you interact with it, Apple skillfully merged the cutout with the rest of the user interface. The Dynamic Island shows notifications and will eventually allow you to view Live Activities from the top of your screen, such as sports scores or the current status of your Uber ride.

Instead of making the modest transition from the iPhone 13 to the basic iPhone 14, or what my colleague Allison Johnson refers to as the "iPhone 13S," adding a Dynamic Island to the iPhone 15 would make upgrading to next year's base model more tempting.

Apple might continue to exclusively offer its Pro models with a high refresh rate. This is allegedly due to problems with the supply chain.

We are unsure if the 48MP main camera will make it to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. We will have to wait to see the outcome even if it is more of a long shot. Other things to expect might include, among others, longer-lasting batteries and other camera modifications. It is unclear if Apple will continue to use an outdated chipset to power the non-Pro devices.

It's better to take these rumors with a grain of salt and hold off on talking about the iPhone 15 series until we have more information.

In the meantime, the new Hit the Island game is now supported by Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and the 14 Pro Max, so if you have one, make sure to give it a go because it's a fun way to kill time!
