Preorders for Apple's New MacBook Air with M2 Begin on Friday, and the Product will be Available on July 15th

Preorders for the updated Air go on sale on July 8th.

The launch date for Apple's forthcoming MacBook Air with M2 CPU has been announced. The new $1,199 laptop will start delivering on July 15 after a somewhat longer than usual wait; preorders go live on July 8 at 8AM ET. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar that was revealed at WWDC 2022 is currently in stock. This MacBook Air is offering a lot more that's new, such a MagSafe charger, 1080p webcam, and a revamped design with a larger, notched 13.6-inch display, whereas the familiar-looking model was the first out of the gate with the second-generation CPU. The new MacBook Air is unquestionably the more colorful and interesting-looking one, even though it starts off cheaper than its 13-inch Pro rival. It ditches the wedge-shaped design of earlier Air laptops in favor of a more traditional slab and comes in a new, deeper shade. Following the WWDC announcement, we had a brief hands-on with a demo unit, and we were immediately struck by how tiny and light the Air is—it is only 11mm thick and weighs 2.7 pounds. In comparison to being forced to use a Touch Bar like the 13-inch Pro with M2, it now has a notch at the top of its larger screen, just like the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs. On paper, the new MacBook Air appears to have a lot of potential, but we'll have to wait and see how its updated specifications and design perform until we get to use it more. A four-speaker sound system with capability for broad stereo and spatial audio is also included into the device. Additionally, it has a trio of microphones. The next-generation M2 processor supports up to 24GB of RAM and has an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. The M2 provides improvements in performance and economy over the M1 thanks to its 18% faster CPU, 35% faster GPU, and 40% faster Neural Engine. The new MacBook Air has a starting price of $1,199 in the US. The M1-equipped MacBook Air from the previous model is still on sale for $999.
